I’m VERY impressed at the specificity of your recommendations and comments. I’ve been prepping now for 2 yrs, ever since a personal experience left me & my adult son in our rural home w/o utilities, food or running water for 6 months! So unless SHTF is REALLY bad, plan to bug in. I know it sounds like I’m already homesteading but I haven’t made that leap primarily due to a lack of specific, concrete ideas about where & how to start. However, you’ll need these for your bug out bag, for your family members, or just to have around for a really long SHTF disaster.
You just never know when an -ahem – emergency could hit. Remember, your get home bag isn’t just for SHTF, it’s for everyday emergencies as well. Fire is one of the most basic survival needs, so it’s good to have a back-up. If you don’t want any mosquitoes annoying you while you’re trying to survive, pack some insect repellent spray. Why throw away an old t-shirt, even if it has a few holes in it, when you can pack it neatly in your GHB? You never know when you might get wet, and having a spare will save you a lot of discomfort.
Predators will be looking for soft targets, i.e., YOU. They’ll be much more polite if they know you can defend yourself. + Many pre-paid cards will expire a year after you purchase them. Others, will expire if they haven’t been used after so many months. Make sure and check the cards before purchasing.
